With a background in styling and costume design, Maureen Ryza founded AZYR Specs in 2021 after experiencing firsthand the transformative power of eyewear while working on the costume team for a 1970s period film. Her search for period-correct frames revealed a wealth of exceptional vintage eyewear fitted with outdated prescriptions, sitting unused in old optician inventories and private collections.

What began as a fascination with the craftsmanship and character of these overlooked frames evolved into a global sourcing practice. Today, Maureen works with collectors, opticians, and communities around the world to bring singular pieces back into circulation and give them new life.
