Historical Context
Founded in Agordo, Italy, in 1961, Luxottica began producing complete eyeglass frames under its own name in the late 1960s before becoming one of the most influential manufacturers in the global eyewear industry. During the 1980s, the company expanded internationally while continuing to produce original Luxottica-branded frames alongside its manufacturing business. Today, Luxxotica owns over 80% of all eyewear brands.
