A preserved Martin Wells Allaena frame from the 1960s, produced in Australia and distinguished by its brown acetate construction with a patterned brow detail. The original character is retained with newly fitted pink lenses, while minor interior discoloration at the nose bridge reflects its vintage history.

Historical Context

Martin Wells was an Australian eyewear manufacturer founded in Sydney in 1953/1954 by businessman Sidney Sinclair, optometrist Eric Hurst, and spectacle-frame specialist Dino Zingarelli. At a time when Australian eyewear was largely conservative and utilitarian, Martin Wells introduced more fashionable shapes, colors, decorative trims, and materials, helping transform spectacles into fashion accessories in Australia. The brand became particularly prominent during the 1950s and 1960s, producing frames in Australia that were widely worn and sold nationally. Designs such as the Envoy, Spellbound, Society, and Amelia featured sculpted plastics, keyhole bridges, two-tone finishes, and decorative metal details characteristic of mid-century eyewear. The company continued operating until 1998, but its early Australian-made frames are especially representative of the country's emerging postwar eyewear industry.

These are so sick! they remind me of my fav Macbeth Tom Delonge frames from 15+ years ago - the pink is so light it doesnt too girly. I have shoulder length hair and the red/brown pop love the shape and def will be getting some more soon

The glasses are good, but the description says it'll fit "medium to wide faces" ... these are small sunglasses. I wouldn't say they're even close to "medium" or above.
