The early 2000s embraced oversized silhouettes and futuristic design, and few styles capture that era better than the shield frame. With a single sweeping lens, exposed hardware, and a lightweight construction, Imatra's interpretation reflects the technical, fashion-forward aesthetic that defined Y2K eyewear. Today, these sculptural shield frames have found a new audience as the revival of early-2000s fashion continues.

Imatra was produced by Safilo, and in 2005 the brand launched Imatra R.C., Inc. in partnership with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi ("The Doctor"). Rossi became the face of the collection, regularly wearing Imatra sunglasses on podiums after Grand Prix victories. The collaboration centered around bold, wraparound silhouettes and sporty styling—very much in line with the design language of your shield frame. (c/o Mido)
